Talent & volunteer life team

You report to the Volunteer Recruitment Lead, who leads the Talent team, and work day to day with the Volunteer Experience Lead.

Assignments

  • Host the monthly open meeting for all volunteers: news from the association, a welcome for newcomers, time for teams and labs to talk to each other
  • Run welcome cafés for new volunteers, in English and in French, at times that suit several time zones
  • Start and support peer circles by language, time zone or shared interest, each one with a person to lead it
  • Curate the monthly showcase, where a team or a lab presents what it has delivered to the whole volunteer community
  • Keep the shared Google Chat spaces lively: the question of the week, announcements, mutual help and shared successes
  • Design the year’s moments of recognition with the Volunteer Experience Lead, then host them
  • Pair volunteers across teams for mutual support, with the Volunteer Onboarding Officer, who runs the welcome buddy network, and with the Digital Tools Champions
  • Gather volunteers’ ideas after each ritual, pass them on to the leads concerned and report back on what came of them
  • Apply YouthShare’s principles for safeguarding minors: exchanges in the community’s shared spaces, buddies trained in these principles, parents informed of their child’s involvement

Tools to master

  • Google Chat: the community’s shared spaces
  • Google Meet and Calendar: online rituals, with live captions
  • Google Forms: feedback after each ritual
  • Google Slides: materials for the monthly meeting and the showcase

How we measure success

  • Every newcomer meets their peers within their first month
  • Rituals that people attend, look forward to and help improve
  • Volunteers’ ideas turned into action and presented to the whole community

Profile we are looking for

  • A gift for bringing a group together and putting everyone at ease
  • Experience facilitating groups: a non-profit, a student society, a youth movement or an online community
  • Consistency and organisation: every meeting prepared and held
  • Sensitivity to differences in culture, language and time zone

A volunteer role, open to young people

Every role we offer is fully voluntary. The experience we ask for can come from a course, a student project, an internship, volunteering or a personal project: every skill counts, wherever you gained it. Our roles are designed first and foremost for young people, and we weigh your motivation and potential as carefully as your track record. Want to be part of something big? Apply.

Nice to have

  • Experience of community management or remote volunteering
  • Good English and French

What this role gives you

  • Facilitating an international community, remotely, across several continents
  • Designing team rituals and moments of recognition, a strong example for any interview
  • A link with every team, every lab and every newcomer

The one-year commitment

A non-profit project is built over time. Every volunteer therefore commits for at least one year: time to settle in, carry the assignment through and pass on what they have learned. The weekly time depends on the role and is given in each role description.

  3. Video interview

A conversation to get to know each other and shape the assignment together.

  4. Decision and arrival

You receive our answer by email, followed by a welcome to the team and access to its tools.
