Artificial intelligence & society

The Digital Palaver

The Digital Palaver questions artificial intelligence with the tools of the traditional palaver: machine memory, the future of rural life, education, digital sovereignty, cultural and linguistic bias, the future of work, the preservation of endangered languages and the ethics of automated decisions.

What the team gives you

How selection works

  1. Online application

You choose a role, present your background and attach your CV. A confirmation email gives you your reference.

  2. Profile review

The Talent team reads every application and matches it with the needs of the role.

  3. Video interview

A conversation to get to know each other and shape the assignment together.

  4. Decision and arrival

You receive our answer by email, then your welcome into the team and your first access.

The one-year commitment

A non-profit project is built over time. Every volunteer therefore commits for at least one year: time to settle in, carry the assignment through and pass on what they have learned. The weekly time depends on the role and is given in each role description.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to live in France?

All our assignments are remote: you can apply from any country.

I need to volunteer for my studies: is that possible?

Yes: the Volunteering for your studies path fits the assignment to your programme and covers your school’s paperwork.

Can I start a YouthShare club?

Yes, at your school, your university or in your town: the Start a YouthShare club guide explains every step.

Which languages do I need?

The team works in English and French. One of the two is enough to apply; speaking both is a real asset.

How much time should I plan?

The weekly time is given in each role description. The commitment is for at least one year, renewable.

Are these volunteer roles?

Yes: all our assignments are volunteer roles within a French non-profit association governed by the 1901 law.

How is my data protected?

Your application and documents are stored in the European Union and read only by the Talent team, the association’s administrators and the leads of the lab or team concerned. AKILI, the team’s assistant, can prepare a summary of them when they ask; the decision always rests with these people. They are deleted twelve months after a closed application, twenty-four months after an accepted one. Details are in our privacy policy.

Can I withdraw my application?

Yes, at any time, from your application tracking page.
