YouthShare Initiatives
Cookie policy
The site keeps in your browser only what serves your visit. Here is each tracker, what it does and how long it lasts.
The essentials
YouthShare Initiatives places in your browser only the trackers the site needs: they keep your settings, your drafts and your conversation with AKILI, sign team members in and protect the comment form. The site runs free of advertising and social media buttons that follow visitors: its share buttons are plain links. It measures its audience with its own tool, as anonymous totals hosted in the European Union.
French law (Article 82 of the Data Protection Act) exempts these trackers from consent. This page tells you about them, as the CNIL, the French data protection authority, recommends, and lets you see and clear what your browser keeps for this site.
What “tracker” covers
A tracker is information stored in or read from your browser: a cookie, and also a web page’s local storage (“localStorage”). The CNIL counts local storage among trackers; this site applies the same rules to session storage (“sessionStorage”), which is cleared when you close the tab. The European Data Protection Board reads the ePrivacy Directive the same way (Guidelines 2/2023).

Your visits in the audience measurement
Audience measurement counts page views as anonymous totals. You can take your visits out of it on this browser; your browser’s “Global Privacy Control” or “Do Not Track” setting has the same effect.
What your browser keeps for this site
Your browser currently keeps the following data for youthshareinitiatives.org. Cloudflare’s sign-in cookies stay out of reach of the page’s scripts: your browser settings show them.
Your browser’s storage is empty for this site.
Cloudflare and GitHub
Cloudflare protects the site and speeds it up. On public pages, its service runs free of cookies: it adds security headers and hides email addresses from bots. Under analyses, the comment form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a spam check that loads when you start writing. According to Cloudflare’s documentation, Turnstile may rely on cookies and local storage; Cloudflare also uses these signals to improve its service, as the Turnstile privacy addendum explains.
Team members who moderate comments sign in through Cloudflare Access. Cloudflare describes its cookies as essential to Access (list of Cloudflare cookies).
GitHub Pages hosts the site and logs visitors’ IP addresses to keep the service secure: the privacy policy describes this processing.
Your choices
You can clear this data at any time, or block it in your browser settings: the CNIL explains how in “Maîtriser votre navigateur” (in French). Blocking local storage resets the features that rely on it: your theme, the reactions shown as yours and your drafts.
Legal basis
Article 82 of French Law No. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 exempts from consent a tracker that is “strictly necessary for the provision of an online communication service at the express request of the user”. The CNIL guidelines of 17 September 2020 place authentication, security and interface personalisation trackers in this category, together with those that keep your choice about trackers. The recommendation of the same day considers keeping that choice for six months good practice: this site’s information banner follows that duration. It also exempts from consent an audience measurement reserved for the site’s publisher, which produces anonymous statistics, keeps its data for twenty-five months at most and lets anyone object: this site’s measurement meets these conditions.
Find out more: “Cookies et autres traceurs : que dit la loi ?” on the CNIL website (in French).
