Frequently asked questions
Answers, profile by profile
Donors, volunteers, authors, partners, journalists: each profile finds its answers here in a few lines, with the page that covers each topic in detail.
Donors
Your donation funds the work of the five labs; everything is handled on the Support YouthShare page.
Does YouthShare issue tax receipts?
Yes. After payment, HelloAsso emails you a tax receipt in the name of YouthShare Initiatives. It entitles you to a French tax reduction of 66% of the donation for individuals and 60% for companies, within the limits of the French General Tax Code.
Can I give every month?
Yes: the Support YouthShare page offers a monthly or a one-off donation. To change or stop a monthly donation, write to [email protected] giving the email address used for it.
Why does payment go through HelloAsso?
HelloAsso, a payment institution licensed by the French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority (ACPR), collects your donation, passes the whole amount on to the association and issues the tax receipt. The contribution it suggests at payment funds its service and is optional.
Can a company support YouthShare?
Yes, with a donation, which entitles it to a 60% tax reduction, or through corporate giving built with the association: support for a lab, skills-based sponsorship, a mentoring programme.
Volunteers and applicants
Every role at YouthShare is a volunteer role, and most are remote.
Do I need to live in France?
Remote roles are open to every country. Hybrid roles, marked as such in their description, take place on site in your city, with remote coordination.
Which languages do I need?
The team works in English and French; one of the two is enough to apply.
How much time should I plan?
The weekly time is given in each role description. The commitment is for at least one year, renewable.
When will I hear back?
The Talent team sends you a first reply by email within three days on average. Your tracking page then shows each stage, up to the decision.
I need to volunteer for my studies: is that possible?
Yes: the Volunteering for your studies path fits the assignment to your programme and covers your school’s paperwork.
Can I start a YouthShare club?
Yes, at your school, your university or in your town: the Start a YouthShare club guide explains every step.
Authors
YouthShare publishes signed analyses by young people from around the world, in English and French.
What do you publish?
Three formats: the op-ed, the analysis brief and the field piece, within one of our four themes: society and inequality, climate and environment, innovation and technology, sustainable development.
How do I propose a text?
Writing assignments open on our partner platforms, JeVeuxAider.gouv.fr and Idealist, where you present your topic and your angle. Once your application is accepted, you hand in your file in the submission space.
How is a text checked?
Three checks come before the editorial board: AI detection, a plagiarism check and a source check. The board then accepts the text, asks for revisions or declines it, giving its reasons in writing.
Which language should I write in?
English or French. YouthShare translates every accepted text and publishes both versions.
How do I track my submission?
On the Track my submission page, with the reference you received on sending it and your email address. You can also write to [email protected].
Partners
Associations, schools, NGOs, institutions, companies, project leaders and media: YouthShare builds with everyone who wants to think and act with young people.
Can a small organisation partner with YouthShare?
Yes. A neighbourhood collective, a student association or a new project brings a field and concrete questions, which our labs look for.
What forms can a partnership take?
Co-publication, debates and workshops, a project hosted in a lab, mentorship, skills-based sponsorship, financial support, sharing and promotion, research and South-South cooperation.
Who decides what is published?
The editorial board alone. A partner suggests themes and shares expertise; the content of analyses stays in the hands of the authors and the board.
How do I propose a partnership?
The Propose a partnership form takes your organisation, your idea and the labs concerned. The partnerships team then gets back to you to arrange a first conversation.
Journalists
Key facts, descriptions, credited photos and logos are gathered in the press room.
Who should I contact for a press enquiry?
Write to [email protected], with your outlet, your topic and your deadline.
Where can I find the logo and a description of the association?
In the press room: short and long descriptions, key facts, downloadable logos and their terms of use.
Can I republish an analysis?
Any reproduction requires the association’s written permission, as set out in the legal notice. Write to [email protected] naming the analysis and your outlet.
How do I invite YouthShare to an event?
A conference, a round table, a summer school or action in the field: tell us about your event at [email protected] and the team will reply.
Personal data
YouthShare Initiatives, an association under French law based in Massy, is responsible for the data collected on this site.
What data does the site collect?
The data you give it: your email address for the newsletter, an application or submission file, a partnership proposal, a comment, a message, a question to AKILI, a donation through HelloAsso. Its host also records technical logs and, with your consent, Google Analytics measures the audience. The privacy policy sets out each use and how long the data is kept.
How do I exercise my rights?
Write to [email protected] to access, correct or erase your data, or to object to its use. The association replies within one month; you can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.
How long is an application kept?
Twelve months after a closed application, twenty-four months after an accepted one; it is then deleted.
Which cookies does the site use?
The trackers it needs to work and, with your consent, those of Google Analytics. The cookie policy describes each of them and lets you change your choice.
Another question?
The team answers by email, and AKILI, the companion for curious minds, answers from the pages of this site.
