Describing YouthShare

Two descriptions, ready to use as they are.

In one sentence

YouthShare Initiatives is an international think-action tank: an association under French law, based in Massy, France, where young people from around the world think together, before acting together, in five labs.

In one paragraph

YouthShare Initiatives is an international think-action tank: an association under French law, governed by the Act of 1 July 1901 and based in Massy, France, that gives young people worldwide a space to think together, before acting together. Born in October 2023 as the Youth Experience Sharing movement, it became an association on 19 February 2025. Its five labs (The Digital Palaver, The New Agora Lab, The Southern Compass Lab, The New Forge Lab and The Impossible Futures Lab) carry out research, advocacy, mentorship, international dialogue and foresight. Contributors from Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas sign analyses published in English and French, after source checks and editorial board review. Its members have spoken at the United Nations in Geneva, for the Campus 2045 session; at FAO’s World Food Forum, one of them presented a poster online. Every role at YouthShare is a volunteer role, and its international team works mostly remotely.

A line from the association

What we wanted from the start, we still want today, at a larger scale: labs where young people worldwide build their own answers, with the rigour of knowledge and the strength of fieldwork.

Three people per job: what the dependency ratio does not count

In Central Africa, each job supports nearly three people. Yet the age dependency ratio, used to date the demographic dividend, ranks Gabon first, the country that employs the smallest share of its population: the indicator equates working age with work.

The great climate schizophrenia

The world spent nearly $1.5 trillion supporting fossil fuels in 2022, while the savings of the African diaspora sit far from the green projects that need them. The money for the climate exists: what it lacks is a channel, and diaspora bonds offer one.

Housing crisis solution, or housing crisis contributor?

Could the housing crisis solution be a former Lego maker? Intended for small-scale prototypes, from cable clips to draw dividers, 3D printing poses as a strong candidate to revolutionise the housing industry.
