Direction, coordination and advocacy
Leadership & coordination team
In the Americas, there is one role for each of four sub-regions: the Caribbean, Central America, South America and North America. In your application, name the sub-region where you live and act. Within the leadership and coordination team, you report to the General Coordinator and coordinate the Country Coordinators of your sub-region. Official representation of YouthShare and the signing of its commitments stay with the presidency; any public presence of YouthShare in a country is decided with the Board, after a note on local law. The role is carried out remotely.
Assignments
- Present YouthShare in your sub-region to youth organisations, universities and institutions, working with the General Coordinator, and prepare the commitments that the presidency signs
- Build the sub-region’s roadmap (priority countries, first teams, first partnerships) and report on progress every quarter
- Identify the sub-region’s Country Coordinators with the Talent team, support them and bring their network together online every month
- Connect young people in your sub-region with the five labs on the issues that affect them, from civic participation to climate: research avenues, debates, calls for contributions
- Connect your sub-region’s language communities (Spanish, Portuguese, English, French and Creole languages) with YouthShare’s work, alongside the editorial and communication teams
- Suggest speakers from your sub-region for webinars and online exchanges with young people, working with the Speaker Research and Programming Officer
- Introduce organisations YouthShare could work with to the Head of Partnerships and Institutional Relations, who leads every partnership
- Apply YouthShare’s shared rules across the sub-region: editorial charter, safeguarding of minors (exchanges in the team’s shared spaces, parents informed of their child’s involvement), image rights, data protection
Tools to master
- Google Workspace: Meet for network meetings, Chat, Calendar and the leadership and coordination team’s shared drive
- Google Sheets: the sub-region’s roadmap and projects
- Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud: organisations and contacts in the sub-region, shared with the fundraising and partnerships team
- Microsoft 365 and Slack: leads’ email and alerts
- Google Classroom: “Leading at YouthShare”
Your first three months
- First month
- A conversation with the General Coordinator, a picture of members, clubs and contacts, and a note to the Board on local law: foreign associations, events, minors, data protection
- Second month
- An approved roadmap and a first online meeting of the Country Coordinators and members
- Third month
- A first project launched with a lab, a club or an organisation in the sub-region, and a first review
How we measure success
- An active team in the sub-region’s priority countries
- Young people from the sub-region taking part in the labs’ work and debates
- Organisations in the sub-region working with YouthShare
Profile we are looking for
- Proven leadership as a local leader, a student leader or an active member of an organisation in your sub-region
- A concrete initiative you have led, set out in your application: its purpose, the people you mobilised, the results you achieved; at interview, with your consent, we contact someone from the organisation you name
- Residence in the sub-region and close knowledge of its countries, youth organisations and institutions
- Initiative, a sense of representation and steady follow-through in remote work
A volunteer role, open to young people
Every role we offer is fully voluntary. The experience we ask for can come from a course, a student project, an internship, volunteering or a personal project: every skill counts, wherever you gained it. Our roles are designed first and foremost for young people, and we weigh your motivation and potential as carefully as your track record. Want to be part of something big? Apply.
Nice to have
- A network in the sub-region’s universities, civil society or institutions
- Experience coordinating across several countries or organisations
- Good English and French, and Spanish or Portuguese
What this role gives you

- Building a network of countries, from the first team to the first partnerships
- The “Leading at YouthShare” course and regular exchanges with the representatives of other sub-regions
- A direct line to the General Coordinator and to the leads of the five labs
